Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see On my JD 467 I can close the rear gate(door) without pto running and not catch belts with door because the tension arm will tighten belts long before gate closes & locks.I've witnessed this when I close gate after I've raised it and locked to replace broken PU teeth. 446 may be different as I've never seen one. This doesn't mean that one should shut pto off during baling as already stated because leaving pto on helps clean out dry hay that gathers between belts especially in Coastal Bermuda.
